The tangerine (Citrus reticula) is a hybrid of a mandarin and an orange. It is a bit darker than a common mandarin, and its flavour is less citrusy than that of an orange. The essential oil is extracted by cold pressing the rind of the fruit. Originally from China, Tangerine has spread around the world and grows today in all subtropical areas.
